Painting Quote Template: What to Include
What a professional painting quote should include, with a sample layout, plus tips that help painters win more jobs.
A clear, professional quote wins more jobs than a cheap one. Clients want to know exactly what they're paying for, and a detailed quote protects you when the scope changes.
Here's what to include and a simple layout you can copy.
What to include
- Your business details: name, logo, contact, license and insurance if applicable.
- Client details and the job address.
- Scope by area: each room or surface, with what's being painted (walls, ceiling, trim, doors).
- Products and coats: paint brand or grade, finish and number of coats.
- Prep work: patching, sanding, priming, caulking.
- Price: per area and total, with labor and materials shown or combined.
- Exclusions: furniture moving, wallpaper removal, major repairs.
- Terms: deposit, payment schedule, how long the quote is valid, timeline.
Sample layout
| Area | Scope | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Living room | Walls + ceiling, 2 coats, patch & prime | $— |
| Bedroom 1 | Walls, 2 coats | $— |
| Hallway | Walls + trim | $— |
| Total (materials included) | $— | |
Tips to win more jobs
- Send the quote the same day you measure, while the client is still deciding.
- Offer good/better/best options, such as walls only vs. walls + ceilings + trim.
- Keep it to one or two pages, branded and easy to read.
The Paint Calculator & Estimator app builds the quote from your measurements, adds labour and mark-up, and exports a branded PDF you can send from the job site.
